Informatics at Stanford - This center brings together researchers in

- The Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition - The Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition (CNBC) includes training opportunities, faculty directory and cognitive science technical reports.
- CenterWatch Clinical Trials Listing Service
- Lists current clinical trials by disease categories and by
state; covers new FDA approvals; allows alerting of patients or
physicians regarding clinical trials or new FDA approvals in their
chosen area of interest.
- Cognitive Science Society - Includes journal and society information, funding and employment opportunities.
- Diagnostic Test Information Server - Diagnostic Test Information Server is an online companion to the printed POCKET GUIDE TO DIAGNOSTIC TEST, encompassing only laboratory tests; still to come are microbiology and radiology assays.
- Events and Meetings
in Academic Medicine- A monthly listing, provided by the Association
of American Medical Colleges, of major medical conferences through the
year 2005.
- FAS Program for Monitoring Emerging
Diseases (ProMED) - ProMED is a project of the Federation of American
Scientists to promote the establishment of a global program for monitoring
emerging diseases, including the surveillance of infectious diseases. The
site also includes ProMED-mail, an electronic information exchange network
which links scientists, public health officials, journalists and laypersons
in a global communications network for reporting disease outbreaks.
- Gastro Extravaganza
- A web page by Dr. Joel Greenson, University of Michigan, which deals
with grastrointestinal and liver pathology. The home page was created from
his teaching experiences. Worth checking out.

Guide, Medical Internet Communications, Inc. - A listing of medical
device companies and a listing of medical device products. Listings are
still fairly sparse.
- The JAMA Migraine Information Center
- JayDoc HistoWeb
- Cellular views of glands, muscle, bones, and
anatomical features of 16 other categories. Accompanying each images is
an annotataion, scale bar adn link for an expanded view. Graphics take
considerable time to load.
- Kaiser Family Foundation - Lists
grants available from the Kaiser Family Foundation, as well as information
projects.
- The Lightning Hypertext of Disease - Includes 5300 pathology images and access to over 3700 disease related information packets.
- McConnell Brain Imaging Centre - The McConnell Brain Imaging Centre (BIC) is one of the largest scientific communities in North America dedicated solely to research imaging of the human brain. The program emphasizes quantitative 3-D investigation of brain structure and function.

- Designed for primary care physicians, it features free board

Internet Medical Resources, Healthtel Corp. - Includes Specialized
and Disease Categories information, Clinical Practice issues, Institutions
and Health Workers, Telemedicine, Imaging, and Computing, Patient Education
and Support and the Biomedical Industry.
- Medscape - Offers
CME credit, free Medline searching, access to thousands of full-text, peer-reviewed

- National Committee for Quality Assurance
(NCQA) - An independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assessing

regulators, and representatives from organized medicine.

Home Page, VirSci Corp - Provides up-to-date, free and accurate drug

professionals and patients who are seeking high quality information about
drug therapies and medical information. The site also includes job postings.
- Radiology Webserver, University
of Washington - Award winning site presents classical virtual cases
along with graphics and text.
- REBASE: The Restriction Enzyme
Database - REBASE is a collection of information about restriction
enzymes, methylases, the microorganisms from which they have been isolated,
recognition sequences, cleavage sites, methylation specificity, the commercial
availability of the enzymes, and references - both published and unpublished
observations (dating back to 1952).
- RENALNET Information
Service - Free clearinghouse for information on the cause, treatment,
and management of kidney disease and End Stage Renal Disease. This information
is used for education, research and treatment purposes. Also included are
job postings, Dialysis Unit Directory, continuing education resources,
academic nephrology departments, nephrology conferences and meetings, and
nephrology professional organizations.
- RxList - The Internet
Drug Index -
Provides extensive information on U.S. prescription drugs
including use, contraindications, side effects, toxicity, dosing
and warnings. Also available from the site are a list of the 200
most commonly prescribed drugs for 1996 and a database which
allows drugs to be identified and searched by their tablet or
capsule imprint codes.

- Society for the Advancement of Women's Health Research - An advocacy organization dedicated to promoting the health of women through research. Included is an overview of gender-based biology, information on specific diseases and relevant statistics.
- Urbana
Atlas of Pathology, University of Illinois at Champagne - Covers general
pathology, endocrine pathology, pulmonary pathology and renal pathology.
- Virtual Hospital, University
of Iowa College of Medicine - Provides patient care support and distance
learning to practicing physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Weekly Web Review in Emergency Medicine - Dedicated to critical analysis of current clinical literature on topics relevant to the practice of emergency medicine.
- WHO Report On The Tuberculosis Epidemic 1997 - Covers the DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course) system of treatment for TB.
