Go to internet resources beginning with the letter:
- AEGIS, the AIDS Education Global Information Service
- Includes Information drawn from AIDSLINE from NLM, as well as newsletters,
wire service reports, legal information, reports from NIH and CDC, and clinical trials
information.
- AIDS Patents Project at CNIDR (Center
for Networked Information Discovery and Retrieval) - Provides access to
the full text and images of international patents relating to Acquired
Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
- Antiretroviral Drug Database (HIV InSite) - See The HIV InSite Drug Database.
- BITMed Laboratory for Biological
Informatics & Medicine, UCSD - This server is unique in that the
WWW hypertext is inter leafed with true complex systems simulations of
biological, chemical and physical systems. Several virtual environments
are presently being built for the rational design of clinical trials and
wetlab experiments.
- CancerNet
- Center for Bioethics
- The University of Pennsylvania Center for Bioethics has compiled links to sites dealing with a number of ethical issues.
- Combined Health Information Database - A database produced by health related agencies of the federal government, covering health information and health education resources.
- CRISP (Computer Retrieval
of Information on Scientific Projects) - A major biomedical database
containing information from 1972 to date on research ventures supported
by the U.S. Public Health Services. You may search this full-text database
by project title, principal investigator's abstract, principal investigator,
grant-receiving institution and CRISP thesaurus.
- Fellowship
and Residency Electronic Interactive Database Access (FREIDA) System
- FREIDA is a database containing information on approximately 7,400 graduate
medical education programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for
Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and 200 combined specialty programs.
- The Genome Database - Stores and
curates genomic mapping data submitted by researchers worldwide and provides
this information electronically to the scientific community.
- Health Services/Technology
Assessment Text (HSTAT) - Contains several searchable full text information
sources including: AHCPR Supported Guidelines, ATIS (HIV/AIDS Technical
Information), NIH Warren G. Magnuson Clinical, Research Studies, NIH Consensus
Development Program, PHS Guide to Clinical Preventive Services (1989),
SAMHSA/CSAT Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP).
- The HIV InSite Drug Database -
This site serves as a convenient source for information on medications
commonly used in managing HIV. The database includes FDA approved drugs
and those in advanced stages of development. Information is updated monthly
and includes indications and regimens, formulations, interactions, toxicities,
and pharmacokinetics.
- HPV Sequence Database - The
Human Papillomaviruses Database collects, curates, analyzes, and publishes
genetic sequences of papillomaviruses and related cullular proteins. It
also includes the annual compendium of papillomavirus information called
Human Papillomaviruses: A Compilation and Analysis of Nucleic Acid and
Amino Acid Sequences.
- National Center for Biotechnology
Information - Includes:
- National Institutes
of Health Guide to Grants and Contracts
- PharmInfoNet
- Pharmaceutical Information Network. Includes extensive drug data, research
material, medical meetings, searchable databases, and discussion groups.
The site is geared to both professionals and patients and provides links
to sites produced by pharmaceutical companies, associations, and government
agencies. Also included are links to pages dealing with the drug treatment
of particular diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and
diabetes. The site is updated regularly.
- PubMed
- Free access to
the National Library of Medicine's database of the biomedical journal
literature, MEDLINE. Pubmed has the capability to use one article as a
"seed" to find other similar articles.

RxList - The Internet
Drug Index -
Provides extensive information on U.S. prescription drugs
including use, contraindications, side effects, toxicity, dosing
and warnings. Also available from the site are a list of the 200
most commonly prescribed drugs for 1996 and a database which
allows drugs to be identified and searched by their tablet or
capsule imprint codes.
